WHAT'S NEW IN CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
WHAT'S NEW IN CHILDREN'S MINISTRY...
The Children's Learning Community kicked off the new year with learning about the wisemen who came to visit Jesus after his birth. While learning about the wisemen's journey to Bethlehem we created a board game! It was fun learning about the gifts the wisemen brought to baby Jesus and the journey it took them to get to him.
We also helped collect cans for SOUPer Bowl each week throughout the month of January! And, with the help of a fellow friend, we learned a new craft and made God's eyes together. Overall, 2012 began with a bang for our children!
In February we will learn about Jesus and his ministry. Towards the middle of the month we will share what we have learned in Family Worship, which we enjoy doing!
Also in February, there are two important orientation sessions, which will take place after church - February 5 is an Infant-Toddler Room Leader Orientation and February 12 is a Children's Learning Community Orientation. Both orientations are meant to help and equip our leaders in leading and teaching our children.
Learning Community continues to help our children grow. It is exciting to see them diving into projects and stories each week. Guess we shall see what the rest of the year brings for Learning Community and the children!
KID'S NIGHT OUT!
The BCE is already busy planning the annual Kids Night Out so please mark your calendars for Friday, March 9 at 6:00 p.m. This year's theme will be around nature and God's living world. Spaghetti dinner will be served. The cost will be $5 per person and a maximum of $20 per family.
SOUPer Bowl
Our second year at SOUPer BOWL was a hit! Our goal was to reach 2012 soup cans, monetary donations or other canned items all to be donated to the Lombard-Villa Park Food Pantry. If we reached this goal, the youth devised that Pastor Sue and I would dance. As I write this, we are still going strong with this service project. We still have a few Sundays to go in collecting and soon, we will know if Pastor Sue and I will be dancing in worship. January 29 was the final Sunday for collection and the first half of worship will be a celebration of what we have collected! Thank you youth for delighting us with your creative SOUPer Bowl announcement moments each Sunday! Thank you all for donating soup and supporting the SOUPer Bowl of Caring project! I will have the total number of cans collected and money raised in the next newsletter!
